3. Bedford Code Tip of the Month: Warmer weather is here, and grass is growing quickly across Bedford. Help keep our neighborhoods looking their best by keeping these things in mind:
- Grass and weeds must be maintained and cannot exceed 10 inches in height.
- Grass and weeds should not grow or accumulate in curbs, gutters, or sidewalks.
- Flowerbeds and landscaped areas must also be properly maintained.
- For questions, please call Neighborhood Services at 817-952-2640. If you'd like to report any type of code violation, please visit www.bedfordtx.gov/code.
4. Mosquito Season Reminders: Bedford staff began trapping and testing mosquitoes for West Nile in May.
- Mosquito traps are set and monitored weekly for the presence of viruses at five testing "zone" locations throughout Bedford. Staff collects zone samples and delivers to the Tarrant County Public Health Department laboratory for West Nile Virus testing.
- If a positive sample, City officials are notified by Tarrant County Public Health and then notifies the public through City of Bedford Communication channels: City of Beford Facebook page, City of Bedford website (sign-up for notifications at www.bedfordtx.gov/notifyme), City of Bedford Nextdoor account.
- According to the City's Mosquito Abatement policies: if a positive test result is received in one zone, creeks and flumes within the zone of the trap will be treated with larvicide. Learn more at www.bedfordtx.gov/mosquito.
- For additional mosquito information, you can call the Bedford Public Works Department at 817-952-2200
5. Cheek-Sparger Road traffic is a hot topic with Bedford, Colleyville and North Central Texas Council of Governments. The Cheek-Sparger Road project -- from Bedford Road to Heritage Avenue -- is in the design process with plans expected late 2027/early 2028, and road construction tentatively expected late 2028/2029. Project includes installation of a larger waterline under the road, a two-lane road with turn lanes, new sidewalks, and a new traffic signal at Martin Drive.
